15 Feb Music Promotion Photography and Artwork
15 years later amongst his favourite projects to work on are music albums and press images. “It’s still a genre of photography where I can be as creative as the client will allow me.” Hacker says. “On this shoot for ‘Green’ – a new electronic duo from London, the pair told me how much they liked the double exposure technique. So I ran with it.”
The result are some images that reflect the group’s sound which on their Sound Cloud is described as ‘combining electro dance with ethereal sides of music listening’.
Singer, Harriet – whose sound is a beautiful blend of Roisin Murphy with Alison Goldfrapp, and producer Hutch, were styled by Isabel While, the make-up artist who frequently works with Hacker to create a professional finish to any shoot they collaborate on.
‘Green’ also approached Hacker to design their logo and album cover which is another service he often provides. “Once a client and photographer have understood a brief together it’s often easier to get the rest of the imaging designed by the same person – if they’re able to, as then you haven’t got to explain the concept to a third party.” explains Hacker. “This approach provides a better sense of unity to the images and so the result is a stronger project.”
Keep an eye out for this duo who are frequently gigging live around London and one day you’ll be able to say “I saw ‘Green’ when they played at the Underbelly in Hoxton” as you stand in the queue at the O2.
